Material and craftsmanship

The head of the cake fork is spoon-shaped with three short, wide tines at the front edge — a shape that securely holds soft pieces of cake. At the transition to the handle sits a floral engraved panel, and on the handle itself, a slender cartouche with the Astra ornament: deep engraving with niello inlay on a gold-plated base. In the niello technique, a dark silver alloy is melted by hand into the engraved lines, creating the characteristic contrast between warm gold and dark pattern. The cake fork is crafted at SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, one of the traditional centers of Russian niello art, and is hallmarked.

Use and occasions

The cake fork is shorter than regular dessert cutlery and, with its wide, rounded tines, is ideally suited for pieces of cake, torte, or petit fours. It is as suitable for coffee time as it is for the dessert course of a festive meal and complements the Astra Classic tea service. As a gift, the cake fork is perfect for hosts who value a stylishly laid coffee or dessert table, as well as for collectors completing their Astra Classic service piece by piece.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed, tailored to the occasion, and free of charge. Even without an engraving, it serves as a unique, personal addition to the gift.

Care

Clean the cake fork by hand with warm water and mild dish soap, then polish dry immediately. You should avoid the dishwasher, as it will eventually damage the gilding and niello inlay. A soft silver polishing cloth preserves the shine and the fine contrast of the pattern.
