A coffee set that tells more than just the pleasure of coffee: This seven-piece set made of 925 sterling silver features the characteristic hop leaves, the deep black niello darkening, and the warmly glowing gilding of a design created in 1969 by the excellent artist Elisaveta Fedorovna Tropina. She combined classical niello technique with modern forms, creating a collection that is still considered one of the most distinctive motifs in Russian silver art today.

Material and Workmanship

Each part of this set undergoes several stages of work: The silver body is drawn from 925 sterling silver, finely engraved, and inlaid with a special niello alloy. Subsequently, the surface is polished and partially gilded, so that the hop motifs emerge as warm accents from the dark niello background. Niello is not a coating, but a chemical-physical bond with the silver — it does not dissolve, it does not flake off, and with each polishing, the contrasts between the dark ornament and the shiny silver deepen further.
