Material and craftsmanship
The hop pattern is engraved by hand into the silver and subsequently filled with niello — an ancient technique in which a black inlay is melted into the engraved lines, leveled, and polished — like ink in silver. No lacquer, no coating that will eventually peel off. The interior gold plating ensures that coffee, tea, or hot water remain flavor-neutral, while the contrast on the outside between deep black and warm gold makes the relief appear sculptural.
