Description

Three feet instead of four – for a candlestick, this is not a design whim but the reason it doesn't wobble. Three points always lie in a single plane, four cannot: on a minimally uneven tabletop, one foot of a four-legged candelabra will always be suspended in the air. Anyone who has experienced a wobbly candlestick with a burning candle knows why this matters.

At a glance

  • Candlestick made of 925 sterling silver, single-flame
  • Height approx. 25 cm — silver weight approx. 310 g
  • Triangular base with three sculptural volute feet
  • Twisted baluster shaft, chased drip tray under the nozzle
  • Zaramella Argenti, Padua — Manufacture since 1948

What the name means

The manufacturer refers to the model as Renascence. This refers to the formal language of the Renaissance: a shaft that is divided into clear sections rather than a continuous curve – base, baluster node, shaft, drip tray, nozzle. Each section has its own outline, and the transitions are designed as rings.

The difference to Baroque candlesticks lies in their serenity. Here, the ornamentation does not spread over the entire surface but is located at the joints.

Why the drip tray is chased

The tray under the nozzle catches dripping wax. On a smooth tray, every drop is visible; on a chased one, it disappears into the ornament. This is the practical reason why decoration is so often found at this particular spot – it makes the candlestick more presentable between cleanings.

Material

A candlestick is under a strain that is not visible: A candle burns at the top, and the base must absorb the tipping moment at the bottom – at 25 centimeters high, a bump against the table is enough. Solid silver provides the necessary weight; a silver-plated piece would either be too light or filled with mass inside. And the chasing on the shaft and tray would not allow for a plating anyway, as it would tear during the hammering process. The Italian hallmark indicates the material.

What it fits for

For standard taper candles. Among the candlesticks from this manufacturer, this is the lowest and the only one with a triangular base – and the entry into the product group, the other pieces of which start at just under 40 centimeters.

Significantly taller and crafted with acanthus leaves are the classic 39 cm candlestick and the large 47 cm candlestick.

As a gift

Candlesticks are almost always used in pairs – two are the rule for Shabbat, and they also look good as a pair on a set table. Those giving a gift should consider this: a single candlestick is a beginning, not a completion.

Engraving is possible on the base, on the smooth surface between the volutes; we advise in advance on placement and size. Upon request, we will include a SilverVerse card, 15 x 10 cm, currently free of charge.

Care

By hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly. No dishwasher. Do not scrape off wax residue – briefly place the candlestick in warm water, then the wax can be peeled off without damaging the surface. In the chased drip tray, work with a soft brush. More in the guide on the care of silver cutlery and silverware.

Frequently asked questions

Does every taper candle fit?

Yes, candles of usual thickness. Very thin candles sit loosely – for these, there are candle cuffs.

Is it really more stable than a four-footed candlestick?

On an uneven surface, yes, and that is the usual case. Three support points always lie in a single plane.

Will I get two identical ones?

Yes – please contact us if a pair is desired. We will then place a joint order with the manufacturer.

Solid or silver-plated?

Solid 925 sterling silver with Italian hallmark. We do not carry silver-plated items.

Is it delivered in gift packaging?

Yes, in high-quality packaging from the manufacturer.
