Description
Gold only on what plastically protrudes – this rule applies equally to both parts. The advantage of the set is not in the price, but in the joint manufacturing: same silver tone, same gold application, same depth of chasing.

One Rule for Two Pieces
Partial gilding can be placed arbitrarily. With this set, it follows a clear principle: What already protrudes is gilded. On the goblet, these are the free-standing leaf tips on the rim of the cup and the leaves on the knop. On the plate, it's the four corner volutes.
That sounds self-evident, but it isn't. Many sets gild at will — a band here, a surface there — and then two parts stand next to each other that don't relate.
Because the same rule applies to both pieces here, the gold is at the same level of perception. You see it immediately when the goblet and plate are together on the table – and you miss it when you look at them separately.
What Gilding Achieves
Gold reflects warmer and darker than polished silver. On a sculpturally crafted piece, this enhances the height difference between relief and ground: with a goblet entirely in silver, the eye has to search for the relief; with a gilded one, it's immediately apparent.
Over a long table, the real advantage becomes clear. From five meters, chased silver blurs into a bright surface; the gilded parts remain recognizable because the color difference carries further than the height difference.
The Fifth Cup
On Seder night, four cups of wine are on the table, from which one drinks — for the four promises of liberation. A fifth is filled but not drunk: the Kos shel Eliyahu. It belongs to the prophet whose coming announces future redemption.
Towards the end of the evening, the front door is opened to welcome him — in many families, a child goes. With a set like this, it is the object that everyone looks at at that moment.
Material and Origin
The advantage of solid silver over silver-plated ware is twofold in a goblet: Chasing is only possible in solid silver — a plating would tear when worked —, and the interior gilding protects exactly where one cannot polish. A goblet that is filled for decades needs both. The cup and plate are hallmarked.
Zaramella Argenti has been producing in Padua since 1948. The ornaments of the Signature line are chased — driven into the silver by hand with punches. The gilding then follows in a second step: all areas remaining silver are covered, and only the exposed parts are gilded. With protruding parts with undersides and undercuts, this covering is the actual work.
As a Gift
For a wedding, as an honorific gift, for a grand anniversary. The partially gilded set is the most representative choice in this series – visibly more elaborate than the silver version, without appearing ostentatious, because the gold follows the form instead of covering it.
In this price range, several givers usually pool their resources.
Engraving
On the goblet, the smooth foot rim remains; on the plate, the mirror and the reverse side. Engraving is not done on the gilded parts — there, the gold layer would be damaged. We will discuss placement and size with you in advance. Upon request, we will include a SilberVerse card, 15 × 10 cm, free of charge.
Care
Hand wash with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly – including the inside of the goblet. No dishwasher. Only dry wipe the gilded parts: gold is softer than silver, polishing paste would attack the thin layer. Work carefully on the free-standing leaf tips. Frequently Asked Questions
Are both parts included in the delivery?
Yes — the partially gilded goblet, approx. 28.5 cm and the partially gilded plate, approx. 24×24 cm, delivered in one package.
Does the gilding wear off?
Not with normal use. The gilded parts are raised and are only dry-wiped during cleaning.
How does it differ from the silver set?
Only in the gilding. Form, dimensions, and weight are identical.
Is the set kosher?
We sell silver items and describe their use – we cannot provide religious legal information. Your community can answer questions about ritual suitability.
Is it delivered in gift packaging?
Yes, in high-quality manufacturer packaging.
The Parts of the Set
Included are the partially gilded goblet, approx. 28.5 cm and the partially gilded plate, approx. 24×24 cm — both available individually, here from the same production run.
For gilded pieces, shared manufacturing carries a significance beyond just the silver tone: the gold application is of equal thickness on both parts. If the goblet and plate are acquired at different times, the color tones may vary minimally — this only becomes visible when both are placed next to each other.
Without gilding, the corresponding combination is available as a set of goblet and plate. One size up is the Jumbo set, partially gilded.
Gilded pieces belong in the light. On a sideboard or in an illuminated display cabinet, the set shows what the gold application is for — it lifts the ornament from the surface, and it does so permanently, because gold does not tarnish, while the surrounding silver darkens.
