Gift set tea strainer and drip tray 925 silver niello

A two-piece set that together forms a small tea ritual: a spoon strainer with a floral niello ornament at both ends and a small stemmed cup made of the same silver, whose upper rim features a fine niello floral band. Both pieces come in a dark blue gift box with a window, nestled on silky fabric. A set for tea lovers who appreciate not only the strainer but also a matching small drinking vessel in the same style.

Note: We have an earlier description for this set that mentions a flat, round drip tray with a diameter of 51 mm and a volume of 40 ml. However, the product image clearly shows a small stemmed cup with a foot, not a flat tray. The dimensions and weight of both parts are therefore open and should be re-measured by Roman using the actual product before being included in the description.

Material and Workmanship

Both parts of this set are made of 925 sterling silver and feature the same floral-black niello craftsmanship. On the spoon strainer, the embellishment is located at the two curved ends of the rim, while the center of the strainer remains polished and unadorned. On the stemmed cup, a narrow band of floral niello ornaments wraps around the upper rim, below which the goblet shape remains smooth and simple. This recurring design language — floral niello ornament on otherwise calm, polished silver — visually connects both parts, even though they fulfill different functions: one for straining loose tea, the other as a small drinking vessel.

Use and Occasions

This set is suitable for anyone looking for a matching small silver piece in the same style in addition to the actual tea strainer — for example, a liqueur or schnapps glass in a goblet format that can also be used outside of tea. As a gift, it is suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, or as an addition to an existing collection of tableware silver. The dark blue gift box with a window makes the set ready to give without further packaging.

Care

Hand wash with warm water and mild detergent — no dishwasher, as dishwasher tabs can damage silver and niello. Rinse tea residues thoroughly from the strainer after each use. The niello ornaments are permanently embedded in the silver and do not require special treatment but cannot tolerate abrasive cleaners. Store dry and protected from light in the gift box.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the stemmed cup for drinking tea or can it be used independently?

The cup can be used independently — for example, for a liqueur, a short espresso, or as a small decorative piece on the table. It is not a coaster for the strainer but a separate drinking vessel in the same silver and niello style.

What is niello?

Niello is a dark blackening alloy that is melted into engraved depressions in the silver. It permanently bonds with the metal and does not chip off.

Can the set be engraved?

An engraving is generally conceivable on both parts. Please inquire before ordering so that we can determine the suitable areas together with you.
