Description
The largest flat piece Zaramella produces in this line. The contour is eight-lobed, and the rim is so wide that palmettes, flowers, and acanthus tendrils can be placed side by side. A piece that you don't just set up casually - and for which a cabinet compartment is usually too narrow.

Size as Its Own Category
Over 54 cm is no longer a serving piece in the ordinary sense. A platter of this size doesn't fit in every cabinet, it's carried by two people when loaded, and it dominates any table it's placed on. Weighing approx. 2.95 kg of silver, it is the heaviest piece in the collection.
Historically, such platters were made as centerpieces or presentation platters: not for passing around, but for standing. In the middle of a long table, on a buffet, on a console - as a surface on which something to be seen is arranged.
The Rim
The contour is eight-lobed: eight arcs form the outer edge, giving the platter a lightness despite its size - a smooth circle of this extent would appear ponderous.
The rim features three motifs in a row: palmettes on the axes, with flowers in between, and continuous acanthus tendrils. All three come from the formal repertoire of the Italian Renaissance, which in turn drew them from antiquity. Towards the well, a delicate bead moulding frames the rim.
The work is hand-chased - hammered into the silver with punches. Over a border length of more than one and a half meters, this is one of the most elaborate works in the line.
Material and Origin
A silver-plated piece could not be produced in this way - the plating would tear under the punch. And it cannot be repolished indefinitely, as the layer becomes thinner. Solid silver tolerates both: the handwork during its creation and the care over generations. The Italian hallmark of the manufacturer certifies it.
Zaramella Argenti has been manufacturing in Padua since 1948. Signature is the house's richly chased line.
What It's Used For
The wedding buffet, the cake for a big birthday, the roast for the entire table, the cheese board for twelve. At a reception, it holds a glass arrangement that remains stationary instead of being passed around.
Between occasions, it's more decor than dinnerware: on the console in the entrance, as a base for a large vase, on the sideboard with candlesticks. The lobed contour creates a play of light and shadow that a smooth surface would not.
Engraving
The well is the largest flat silver surface in the assortment. A family crest, a company logo, or a multi-line dedication with a date can be placed here in a size that remains legible even from several meters away. Engraving upon request; for this surface, we will discuss the design and scale in detail beforehand. Upon request, we will include a SilverVerse card, 15 × 10 cm, currently free of charge.
Occasions
As a joint gift for a wedding or golden wedding anniversary, as a present for a company anniversary, as an honorary gift. A piece of this size is rarely bought for everyday use - it marks an occasion and then remains in the house as its symbol.
Care
By hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly - for this size, it's best to lay it flat on a cloth. No dishwasher: cleaning salts attack silver, and moisture would remain in the chased depressions. Tarnishing is a normal reaction with sulfur from the air; a silver cloth restores the shine. The darker tone can remain in the depths of the rim. More in the guide on the care of silver cutlery and silverware.
Frequently Asked Questions
How heavy is the platter?
Approx. 2.95 kg when empty. When loaded, it should be carried by two people or filled at its display location.
Does it fit in a normal cabinet?
With a diameter of approx. 54.5 cm, it requires a deep compartment or should be stored upright. Before purchasing, it's worth checking the planned space.
Solid or silver-plated?
Solid 925 sterling silver, no plating, with official Italian hallmark.
Is the platter also available in a smaller size?
Yes - as a round platter of approx. 46 cm and as a square one of approx. 24×24 cm. A different shape is offered by the cross-shaped platter of approx. 43×43 cm.
Is it delivered in gift packaging?
Yes, in high-quality packaging from the manufacturer.
The Largest Platter in the Line
Approx. 54.5 cm in diameter - making this the largest flat piece Zaramella produces in the Signature line. Smaller options include the round platter of approx. 46 cm, and significantly smaller, the square one of approx. 24×24 cm.
At this size, storage becomes a real question. A cabinet compartment with a clear width of 55 cm is rare; most homes store such pieces upright in a display cabinet or lying on a sideboard. This is not a makeshift solution - a chased silver platter of this diameter is intended as a showpiece and looks best displayed.
If you need a raised rim instead of a flat form, you will find the corresponding dimensions among the silver trays; an idiosyncratic alternative is the cross-shaped platter.
