Special properties of products
Description
This 925 sterling silver baby spoon features an owl in niello technique on a gold-plated background — an ancient symbol of protection and vigilance. It is a suitable gift for a birth or baptism. The owl stands for wisdom and protection in a new life.
At a glance
- Material: 925 sterling silver, gold plating, niello
- Finishing: hand-engraved owl motif with niello inlay on a gold-plated background
- Motif: Owl
- Collection: Niello silver (Russian enamel and engraving tradition)
Material and craftsmanship
The owl is crafted into the silver with precise hand engraving and then blackened with niello to highlight the lines in relief. Niello is a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished — like ink in silver — not enamel, not a print. The spoon is then gold-plated, creating a contrast between the niello drawing and the warm gold tone.
Occasions and target groups
Whether for a birth, a baptism, or a first birthday — the owl brings protection and luck to a new life. For parents who want to accompany their child with a symbolic keepsake. For godparents and grandparents who want to give a gift of protection and security. For collectors who appreciate fine silver art.
