Material and workmanship

The silver holder does not just hold the crystal glass; it frames it. The clear glass keeps the tea visible, along with its color, infusion, and intensity. A niello scene runs around the gold-plated holder: a rising sun with golden rays, with a two-masted sailboat moving through stylized waves in front of it. Niello is a black inlay that is melted into engraved depressions, ground flush, and polished – like ink in silver, not paint or a print. The sailboat motif is a popular subject in the Russian silver tradition, representing travel, freedom, and new beginnings. The handle and base of the holder are gold-plated, providing a warm contrast to the cool silver and the dark niello. When drinking, the hand holds the metal holder while the tea in the glass retains its temperature.

Use and occasions

With a capacity of 210 milliliters, this tea glass is designed for a full tea experience—not an espresso size or a miniature. The total weight of approx. 164.1 grams is distributed between the crystal glass and the silver holder, giving the piece substance in the hand. As a gift, it is suitable for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, or simply as a personal present for someone who not only drinks tea but celebrates it. Those with a fondness for travel, the sea, or maritime themes will find the sailboat to be a motif with its own unique symbolism.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

A personal engraving on the silver holder is possible upon review, such as initials, a date, or a monogram. Contact us before ordering with your request, and we will clarify the implementation. Upon request, we can also include a personal SilberVerse card in 15 x 10 cm landscape photo format, individually designed to suit the occasion. It is free of charge.

Care

Clean the crystal glass with warm water and a mild detergent, but not in the dishwasher, as this would damage the gold plating on the holder. Maintain the silver holder with a soft polishing cloth. With regular use, the gold plating further slows the tarnishing of the silver.

Frequently asked questions

Can the crystal glass be removed from the silver holder?
Yes, the glass sits in the holder and can be removed so that the glass and holder can be cleaned and polished separately.

Is the tea glass also suitable for coffee?
Yes, the 210 ml format fits well with longer coffee drinks such as café au lait or Americano. It is too large for espresso.

Can I have the silver holder engraved with a dedication?
Contact us before ordering; we will review the engraving request and advise you on the possibilities for the holder.
