Schnapps Glass Set, 925 Silver Niello, with Tray, 5-piece

Four shot glasses and a round serving tray, all gilded, all with niello ornamentation — a complete shot set, meticulously designed from 925 sterling silver. The inside shines with gold, while a grape band runs around each cup, and when all four are on the tray, the ensemble looks like a small stage for Russian table culture.

Material and Workmanship

All five pieces of this set are made of gilded 925 sterling silver and feature the same niello ornaments: grapes with leaves and tendrils, finely engraved and filled with the black niello mass. The inside of each glass is fully gilded — a warm golden shimmer that elegantly showcases any shot or vodka. This combination of gilding and black niello ornamentation has a long tradition in Russian silversmithing and is still produced by the SevChern manufactory according to the same principle: the enamel mass is inserted into engraved depressions and fired at high temperatures, creating a depth contrast that printed ornamentation cannot achieve.

Use and Occasions

The round tray with a diameter of 140 mm is the centerpiece of this set — the four glasses are arranged concentrically on it, as if on their own stage. At 40 ml per glass, there is a bit more room than in classic 30 ml shot cups, ideal for finer spirits that you sip rather than down. The complete shot set is suitable as a wedding gift for a couple starting their own drinking tradition after the celebration, as an anniversary gift for business partners, or as a Christmas gift for people who appreciate true luxury. It arrives in high-quality gift packaging and needs no further additions to appear complete.

Care

After use, dry the tray and glasses with a soft cloth. A silver cleaner removes tarnish — especially important for gilded surfaces, as oxidation is more visible there than on silver without gilding. Avoid dishwashers and abrasive cleaners. Storing the tray and glasses in their gift box additionally and permanently protects the gilding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the round tray also be used for other purposes?

Yes — the 140 mm diameter tray is also suitable as a jewelry dish, a coaster for a carafe, or simply as a decorative element on a sideboard.

What drinks are the 40 ml glasses suitable for?

For vodka, schnapps, liqueur, or fine brandies. The slightly more generous size gives even more demanding spirits enough space to develop their aroma.

Is the set also suitable as a wedding gift?

Very much so — as a complete silver set for shared toasts, it is a classic wedding gift of lasting value that remains in use beyond the occasion.
