Material and craftsmanship

The heart of the Inspiration series is the floral Niello ornament band on the saucers: a continuous pattern of flower rosettes and vines that has been worked into fine engraving lines and filled with dark Niello. Niello is neither paint nor lacquer — it is a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished, like ink in silver. It does not fade. The gold-plated handles of the cups and the gold-plated spoon stems provide warm accents against the polished silver and the dark Niello — three different qualities in one set: cold, warm, dark.

Care

925 silver is durable if treated correctly. For Niello silver, the following applies: hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap, no dishwasher. You should avoid silver dip baths, as the Niello inlays would be damaged. To polish the smooth surfaces, a soft silver polishing cloth is sufficient; do not treat the Niello ornaments themselves aggressively. Storage in the gift box or a closed case protects against tarnishing. Niello does not fade over time, but rather becomes deeper — the contrast between the polished silver and the dark ornament gains character with every passing year.
