Material and Workmanship

All five pieces of this set are made of gilded 925 sterling silver and feature the same niello ornaments: grapes with leaves and tendrils, finely engraved and filled with the black niello mass. The inside of each glass is fully gilded — a warm golden shimmer that elegantly showcases any shot or vodka. This combination of gilding and black niello ornamentation has a long tradition in Russian silversmithing and is still produced by the SevChern manufactory according to the same principle: the enamel mass is inserted into engraved depressions and fired at high temperatures, creating a depth contrast that printed ornamentation cannot achieve.
