Silver Tea Gift Set 7-piece Niello — Akanthia

Seven pieces, one image. When you place this set on the table, no further words are needed: the chalice-style sugar bowl in 925 sterling silver, flanked by six matching teaspoons standing upright in their holders—not a random ensemble, but a perfectly composed table setting. The name Akanthia refers to the acanthus volutes that wrap around the sugar bowl in niello decor—a motif with three thousand years of history.

Material and workmanship

The sugar bowl embodies the character of the entire line: its high trumpet base elevates the curved bowl, and the domed lid is finished with a slender drop-shaped knob. The niello decor features a central diamond medallion with a dot-grid, framed by acanthus volutes that drape over the walls—the motif repeats as a palmette ornament on the lid. The edge of the bowl features six integrated openings that serve as holders for the six teaspoons—conceived not as an afterthought, but as an architectural element of the form itself. Niello is neither paint nor lacquer, but a dark metal alloy embedded into engraved grooves and chemically and physically bonded to the silver. The result becomes more beautiful over time: the more often you polish the silver, the deeper the contrasts between the matte black of the inlay and the warm luster of the 925 sterling silver become.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Both the sugar bowl and the six teaspoons can be individually engraved upon request—a date, initials, or a short sentence. An engraving turns a beautiful set into a personal piece. Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format—individually designed to suit the occasion and free of charge. Each card is unique and created specifically for you.

Care

Care for niello silver as you would high-quality silverware: polish it occasionally with a soft silver cloth. The niello is a chemical-physical bond with the silver—not a lacquer that will peel off. The more you polish, the deeper and more contrasting the decor becomes. Avoid the dishwasher and prefer dry storage.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reorder individual spoons if one goes missing?
Yes. The SevChern manufactory continues to produce the teaspoons for the Akanthia line—reordering is possible. Just write to us and we will organize it for you.

How do I properly care for a niello silver set?
Polish it occasionally with a soft silver cloth. The niello is a chemical-physical bond with the silver and does not peel off. You should avoid the dishwasher and ultrasonic baths.

Is this set suitable as a corporate or representative gift?
Very much so. A seven-piece silver service with niello decor, in a gift box—this is a gift of representative quality. With an engraving, it becomes a lasting symbol.
