Description
Some pieces don't need loud embellishment. This 925 sterling silver saucer lies flat and calmly, with a polished mirror in the center, allowing the cup to take center stage. Four restrained niello ornaments are evenly spaced around the rim – small rhomboid shields with acanthus volutes, framed laterally, and accompanied by delicate floral motifs above and below. The rim remains intentionally free between the four motifs, creating an interplay of decoration and stillness instead of a continuous, enclosed border.

Material and Workmanship
Niello – a silver technique around 3,000 years old – is applied in 15 steps at the SevChern manufactory. It forms a chemical-physical bond with the silver; it's not a lacquer or coating that could peel off. With every polishing, the contrasts between the bright silver and the dark ornament deepen, so the saucer gains expressiveness over time instead of fading. The Verbena line also includes a teapot and a teacup – all three pieces share the same rhomboid-acanthus vocabulary, each with its own character in detail.

Polish with a soft silver cleaning cloth; do not use ultrasound or aggressive cleaners. The niello is food-safe and tolerates normal use without problems, but should not be unnecessarily stressed during polishing.
