Description
The Goat wall plaque is a silver plate made of 925 sterling silver featuring a hand-engraved niello goat head, framed in red velvet. It commemorates the Year of the Fire Goat 2027 and makes a fitting gift for the Chinese New Year, the birth of a child in the Year of the Goat, or the birthday of someone born in a Goat year. As a quiet wall piece, it needs no great occasion; the artistry in the silver speaks for itself.
For a New Year's visit. For a sister born in 1979. For a child of the year 2027.

What makes this Goat wall plaque special
The goat head looks out from the front of the plate, with acanthus volutes and fine cross-hatching growing beneath it. The grooves are hand-engraved, and the niello is fired into the metal, meaning the dark design is set within the silver rather than sitting on top of it.
The Goat in the Chinese Zodiac
The Goat is the eighth sign. The character 羊 (yáng) stands for both goat and sheep. 2027 is the Year of the Fire Goat (丁未, Ding Wei). Years of the Goat include 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, and 2015.
For the New Year, a birth, or a milestone birthday
At a birth, it serves as a keepsake for a Year of the Goat. And for those born in 1967, it makes an ideal gift for their sixtieth birthday.
Goat, Sheep, and Horse in the same frame
Silver-grey ornamental frame, gold beaded trim, red velvet: The Sheep wall plaque and the Horse wall plaque are finished in the same style.
Caring for niello silver
A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for dusting.
Frequently asked questions about the Goat wall plaque
When does the Year of the Goat begin?
On February 6, 2027. Depending on the date of the New Year, those born in January or early February may still belong to the previous year's animal sign.
Goat or sheep – which animal is meant?
In the zodiac, it is one sign. The goat has twisted horns, while the Sheep wall plaque features a curly fleece.
How do I hang it next to the Horse?
Side by side at the same height; the frame and velvet are identical, only the animal changes.
Is an engraving possible?
You can order the engraving service flat rate directly with your purchase. We will then check if and where engraving is possible and coordinate the wording with you; if it is not feasible, we will refund the fee. Alternatively, we can write a SilberVerse card: a verse tailored to the occasion, name, and mood, available for free upon request.
How do I care for niello silver?
Polish sparingly with a soft cloth, as vigorous polishing will wear away the niello. More details can be found in our article on the niello technique.
