Christening spoon made of 925 silver — handcrafted and engravable

Christening spoon made of 925 silver — The classic godparent gift

A christening spoon made of 925 sterling silver is one of the most meaningful gifts a godparent can give. Our collection features christening spoons with religious and childlike motifs — from a simple cross to a delicate angel, from a guardian angel to a dove. Each spoon is individually cast, ground, and polished in the manufactory. Many models offer space for a personal engraving, making the spoon a lasting keepsake.

What makes a silver christening spoon special?

The christening spoon is one of the oldest godparent gifts in Europe. In many families, it is passed down through generations. 925 sterling silver is the traditional material choice: robust and durable. A christening spoon accompanies the child from their first solid food into adulthood—and remains a cherished keepsake even after that.

Occasions and target groups

When do you give a christening spoon as a gift?

The classic occasion is baptism — whether Protestant, Catholic, or ecumenical. A silver spoon is also appropriate for a birth, a naming ceremony, or a first birthday. In many families, grandparents complement the godparent's gift with a matching silver baptismal cup or a complete baptismal gift set.

For whom is a silver christening spoon suitable?

For godparents seeking a meaningful gift. For grandparents wishing to continue a family tradition. And for everyone looking for a godparent gift that won't just end up forgotten in a drawer.

Care and handling

Christening spoons made of 925 sterling silver are designed for everyday use. Clean with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. For patina, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient. Do not use abrasive cleaners on gilded areas. Not dishwasher safe.

Can I give several spoons as a gift set?
Yes. Many godparents combine the christening spoon with a christening cup or a gift set. You'll find coordinated sets in our christening gift sets.
